Our Mission
Our Sole allegiance is to our clients, creating financial plans that help them understand the real impact that investments make on their goals and dreams.
Four Characteristics Make Us Different
Fiduciary Business Model
Our fee-only fiduciary business model aligns our firm’s objectives with those of our clients. As a fee-only advisor, our only source of revenue is fees paid by clients, NOT commissions or incentives paid by brokerage firms, mutual funds, or insurance companies. When we make investment recommendations, our clients know they are receiving advice for the right reason – their own success and not the self interest of their financial advisor.
Commitment to Financial Planning
Our investment recommendations are made within the framework of each client’s master financial plan. The typical financial advisor makes investment recommendations based upon the outcome of a simplified risk tolerance quiz, not a plan that anticipates the client’s current and future cash-flow needs, vision of the ideal future, tax situation, and more. We demonstrate for each client how to pursue financial goals while limiting risk. Our financial plans are stress-tested each year to ensure that our clients remain on target.
Time-tested investment process
During the turmoil of the 2008/2009 market collapse, it became abundantly clear to many investors that a buy, hold, and hope strategy for investing can be an expensive one. In fact, many investors that did this have suffered immense losses as a result of the market downturn. Like most advisors, we work to capture the upside of positive markets. What distinguishes Hoxton, however, is our efforts to protect our clients when things go badly. We see ourselves playing an important risk management role. We actively manage portfolios to advance values in positive markets and protect them in falling markets. In other words, we have a well articulated “sell discipline” for times when our technical indicators suggest that the risk of being fully invested is too great.
Seamless Proactive Service
The common refrain amongst investors these days is that they do not receive enough attention from their financial advisors. Recent industry studies suggest that the typical investment advisor manages thousands of client relationships. We serve a limited number of clients, which helps us provide an intimate client/advisor relationship. Our service model is proactive and seamless; its goal is to anticipate each client’s needs in advance. We consistently earn exceptional marks for service in client surveys.
